How is it possible to shoot a golf ball more than 350 yards? The real question is can I do it myself? Maybe you
have asked yourself such questions, and fought about how you can find the answer. I did that too, and here’s what I came up with. The first thing I thought about was to invest in this newest technology for drivers and improve my
techniques as well. It took a lot of time but I found the right answer to my questions.

I began my search by trying to find the right driver for me. Then I put some thought into how
important this was to me. Of course there is a difference between playing with an old wood-driver or a brand-new call-away driver; except if your name is Happy Gilmore of course. From my research I would say it’s possible to play with the pros even if it’s not the newest equipment. Now you may be wondering about two things.  Firstly, what about all the new features that new drivers have? Secondly, is it necessary to compete in long
driving? My answer would be “No!”

A lot of times, the new features are attractive and you consider buying something new. This is because that is what firms want, so that they can earn some money. This is of course not a bad thing, but if you trying to become a pro-long driver, it may not be the place to spend all your savings at. I don’t think so because it does not depends on whether the driver is new or three years old. This is not what’s going to stand between you and the World long drive championship anyway.

I believe that having the good feeling is important. If you have the right feeling with the driver then you have a chance to win. You should stick with this driver, until you don’t have this feeling anymore. This feeling should come from inside you, and not what other people think. I had a driver for myself once too. In fact I took him out for a lot of different things, even when I wasn’t supposed to. I used him because it felt right for me.

My coach always made fun of me when I used my driver, but I didn’t care. Why should I care if my driver is 15 years old and without all the new features you can get today? By the way, my driver used to be my grand dad, and that was all that mattered to me. Therefore before you spend all your savings on a new driver, I think you should think about it once more.  Of course you need something that means a lot to you, so just think about Happy Gilmore!

You must know that drivers in the World Long Drive Championship always have the newest equipments. However, I don’t think that this would be the best place to invest your time and money, for a start. I think there are some other places where your time is better invested, in getting the extra yards.

If you give a new long drive player a new Callaway driver, it doesn’t make him the new Eric Jones World Long Drive Champion. The person may not have the techniques and skills and hence cannot measure up to Eric Jones. Through my search in becoming a better long drive player, I found out that the first 80% is not so hard to learn. However, the last 20% makes the difference between us (the beginners) and the pro long drivers.

The next question is, how can you master the remaining 20% easily? There is no easy way, but if you put enough time in it, you are going to get along! This is true in many cases. You don’t become a good chef by just buying some books about cooking. You have to practice a lot, and that’s the same for long driving. If you don’t have any hint on the directions, you’re going to find it hard to become a good chef. Therefore, you need to find a middle way where you have something to guide you in the right direction. This way, you will get the most out of your hard work.

There are many things that can guide you in the right direction. You can find a mentor or an expert who can help by guiding you. You can also browse the Internet and find some books or videos, which can help you. This is the cheapest investment to get some guidance to become a pro long driver.

From my search in becoming a better long drive myself, I found a hard hitting fact. That if you don’t have the right technique, it doesn’t matter how much money you spend on equipment! Therefore, I invested my time on improving my technique. I have done this by Eric Jones’ book “The 5 Keys to Distance” which gave me value for my money in form of guidance. It taught me how to get the right techniques to become a better long driver. Once I achieved this, I would consider buying a new driver.
